As I rest deeply in the pages of The Martian, Blue Jays Baseball, a federal election, The Walking Dead  and an onslaught of melodic children's literature, I ponder the earliest written message I received today.  What a fitting piece to frame my first ever blog post.

The message was compelling - and poignant given this recent jump into the blogosphere. I often have to remind myself that discomfort is necessary for growth - never seems easy in practice, but always rings true in reflection.

I found this from Robin Sharma in my email this morning:

Robin Sharma: 2 Greatest Words

There seems to be an endless supply of options following a just start statement. This blog will serve in part as a testament to that belief. When is the last time you took a bold and daring step outside of your comfort zone? How did you feel in that moment? Was it worth it?

  1. Jordan, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog post! It made me think about how The Walking Dead and The Martian are statements on humanity's need for one another and how our lives are really fully lived when we are pushed beyond what we are currently capable of.

I also enjoyed the redirection to Robin Sharma's blog and now subscribe to his posts!

To answer your question, the last time I took a bold and daring step outside my comfort zone was a turning point for me. It changed the way I was thinking of a certain problem and therefore allowed me to turn it into an opportunity. I felt renewed - like the first buds on the trees in the early spring as they newly emerge, ready to grow in to full leaves and begin a new cycle. It made me feel hopeful and free.

Was it worth it - you better believe it!

  2. I truly believe in that message because life tends to get a hole lot better when you live your life on the edge or outside of your comfort zone. Yes You might feel a bit scared at first but if you think about it life is all about taking chances and some of those chances you might not be willing to take. But if you don't take those chances you will never be able to know what it is like to do it.
